During the CES tech fair in Las Vegas, Samsung introduced Vision AI, a new look at watching TV and smarter living. Read here what it entails and also about the integration of Microsoft Copilot.

Samsung always makes a big splash at the major tech shows such as CES in Las Vegas and IFA in Berlin. Their first event was First Look 2025 where Vision AI, new TVs, collaborations and innovations could be seen and heard. In this article we take a look at Vision AI.

According to SW Yong (display boss Samsung), Vision AI will improve the television viewing experience: “Samsung does not view television sets as one-way devices for passive consumption, but as interactive, smart partners that adapt to your needs.”

Samsung Vision AI
Samsung Vision AI (1) should focus on personalized features: they determine the way users interact with their screens. We already know some functions from smartphones from Samsung and Google:

• Click to Search (2) provides instant information about what’s on screen — from identifying an actor to discovering the content being displayed — all without disrupting the viewing experience.
• Powered by the built-in AI translation model, Live Translate (3) aims to break down language barriers with real-time subtitles, allowing viewers to enjoy global content seamlessly. Unfortunately, it will take some time before this function is also available in the Dutch language.
• Generative Wallpaper transforms black screens into dynamic, personalized canvases, allowing users to capture images perfectly tailored to their taste and occasion.

In addition to personalization, Samsung Vision positions AI screens as central hubs for smarter living through integration into the SmartThings ecosystem:

• Home Insights provides real-time updates on your home environment, including safety alerts and daily updates, for greater convenience whether users are at home or not.
• Pet and Family Care keeps a close eye on your housemates by detecting unusual behavior in your pets and family members. This technology improves comfort by automatically adjusting room settings, such as dimming the lights as a child falls asleep, while providing real-time updates and playing recorded events through the television set.

Samsung and Microsoft Pilot
Together with Microsoft, Samsung announced the new Smart TVs and Smart Monitors that use Microsoft Copilot. This partnership will give users the ability to easily search for relevant information about the content on the screen, using the remote control or voice commands, and discover an extensive range of Copilot services, including personalized content recommendations.

Samsung Vision AI portfolio
Samsung Vision AI will be available in an extensive portfolio, including the Neo QLED, OLED, QLED and The Frame models. So of course also in the Neo QLED 8K QN990F, Samsung’s most advanced television to date, in a sleek design, with smarter, AI-driven experiences. Thanks to the latest NQ8 AI Gen3 Processor, the television offers a range of built-in AI features to improve picture and sound quality, as well as the overall viewing experience:

• 8K AI Upscaling Pro: Enhances lower resolution content to breathtaking 8K quality, for stunning detail on every screen.
• Auto HDR Remastering Pro: Analyzes content frame by frame for lifelike images and bright colors, even in dark scenes.
• Adaptive Sound Pro: Uses AI to separate and optimize sound components, such as speech, music and sound effects, for clear, balanced audio quality.
• Color Booster Pro: Enriches color expression with AI-driven scene analysis and enhanced image processing for each image.
