Once you start writing an email, Outlook.com saves the message as a draft. If you do something else, the message will be saved. Continue with it later or delete the draft.
What is a draft message?
Within email programs, a concept has a special meaning. A draft is an email that has been created but not yet sent. Work in progress, which is saved in a separate folder. Do you have to leave urgently, do you want to think about the text, or is there another reason to stop with the message? Don’t worry, the mail is stored until it is finished or sent.
Create draft
As soon as you create a new mail or start replying to a message, a draft will appear in Outlook.com.
- Surf in the browser to www.outlook.com
- click on To register.
- Log in with the email address and password.
- click on New message.
- At ‘To’, enter the email address of the recipient(s).
- Under ‘Add subject’, type a clear subject.
- Outlook.com automatically saves the email in the Drafts folder. At the bottom right of the e-mail message is when the message was last saved. Note: Outlook.com does not always use the correct time zone, so compare the time with the time indicated by your Windows clock.
- Ready with the message? Click on the cross at the top right to close it for now.
Edit draft messages
Continue working on the draft message at any time.
- Click in the left menu Concepts.
- This folder contains all the e-mails that you have started, but which have not been sent. Click on the desired message.
- The message box opens. Change the text if necessary.
- Is the email ready to send? click on Send.
- Not satisfied yet, or do you have to leave? Click on the cross at the top right. The message is back in the Drafts folder. There is no limit to the number of times the email can be opened and saved. Sent e-mails are in the ‘Sent items’ folder.
Delete draft
Not all drafts end as a sent message. Sometimes someone changes their mind, an e-mail has become obsolete or the answer has already been received. Delete the draft.
- Click in the left menu Concepts.
- Here are all emails saved as drafts. Click on the desired draft.
- click on remove.
- click on OK.
The draft message disappears from the Drafts folder.
