With the introduction of iOS 16, Apple has changed the way in which screenshots are displayed on the iPhone. Surcharges now open screenshots in a screen -filling preview. This new design is actually intended for Visual Intelligence, part of Apple Intelligence, but is only available in Dutch at the end of 2025.
Thanks to the screen -filling display you can use editing options faster. You can select text from the screenshot, mark and recognize parts with Apple Intelligence or ask questions to Chatgpt. Many users find the filling display awkward and want to go back to the small miniature display at the bottom left of the screen.
Full preview
In iOS 26, a screenshot immediately shows the full image on the screen, so that you can immediately use the new possibilities such as Visual Intelligence. This means that you no longer see a small preview at the bottom of the screen, but that the screen image appears full. This new approach makes it easier to remove information from the image, such as copying text or performing visual searches.

Visual Intelligence
Visual Intelligence in iOS 26 is a smart function that helps you to obtain information about what you see on your screen, such as recognizing products, text, places, plants, animals and art. It works with screenshots and photos, and through integration with chatgpt you can ask questions about what you see to get extra context or answers. This advanced visual AI functionality makes it easier and faster to find relevant information immediately.
It is important to know that Visual Intelligence in iOS 26 is not yet available in Dutch. Apple expects to offer this function in Dutch at the latest at the latest, so that Dutch-speaking users can then fully use the visual intelligence and the associated AI options
Screen
You can make a screenshot on an iPhone with Face ID by briefly pressing the side button and the volume-high button and releasing it immediately. On an iPhone with Touch ID you simultaneously press the side button and the home button and let them go quickly.
Switch off -filling screenshots off
Although the functions are practical, the screen -filling display also brings disadvantages. This way you cannot make new screenshots as long as the big display is open without first storing it manually, which slows down multiple screenshots in succession. Many users therefore prefer to see the small preview-left under the screen, so that they can continue quickly with other tasks.
- Open the settings app on your iPhone.
- Go to General.
- Tap on screenshot
- Switch off the ‘Full Pre -Thones’ option

After switching off, when making a screenshot, a small miniature in the bottom left of your screen appears. You can tap this to open the full editing options, including Visual Intelligence, but you can also continue immediately with other tasks without the screenshot appearing in full screen.
