Seat receives record turnover for the first half of 2023

Seat SA, the company under which the Seat and Cupra car brands fall, recorded record sales in the first half of this year. More than 7.4 billion euros came in, which is 37.8 percent more than last year’s 5.38 billion. The extra turnover is mainly due to the start of deliveries from Seat: the brand delivered 13.6 percent more cars than in the same period of 2022.

Seat SA records an operating profit of €371 million for the first half of 2023, which is €468 million more than in the same period last year, in which the company therefore had an operating loss. The better figures are due to a higher profit percentage (5 percent instead of -1.8 percent gross profit) at Seat and higher sales: 13.6 percent more cars reached their customers in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year. The brand delivered 261,400 cars up to and including June of this year, which was successful because the chip shortage is much less acute than in the first half of 2022.

Things are also going uphill at Cupra: the brand delivered 107,300 cars in the past six months, which is almost 57 percent more than last year. Since Cupra was founded as a separate car brand, it has delivered more than 400,000 cars to date, more than 25 percent of which in the past six months alone. The Cupra Formentor is the best-selling model. Of these, 60,900 were delivered up to and including June of this year. The Cupra Born was good for 18,900 sales. Cupra mainly sells its cars in Europe, but also made the leap to Australia in 2022 and to Egypt and Morocco in 2023. The brand also flirts with an expansion of its sales area to the United States.

Seat Arona sells better than Ibiza

For Seat, the best-selling model is the Arona (53,600 units), followed by the Ibiza (43,800 units). The brand mainly sells in Spain. Germany and England are the number two and three sales markets of the Spaniards.
