Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will come into action for the Formula 1 team of Aston Martin next year. He succeeds Sergio Perez at the racing stable, which is still known as Racing Point.
Even before the 2020 season started, Ferrari announced that Sebastian Vettel will no longer compete for the Scuderia next year. Since then it has been a search for a new place for the four-time world champion and it has now been found. Contrary to the earlier claims of the Racing Point team boss, Vettel is therefore contracted for next year. The team, which will then continue as Aston Martin, has signed the German driver for 2021 ‘and beyond’. For the time being, Vettel is therefore a bit rammed.
For the 33-year-old it is an interesting step to ride with this team. Ferrari, where he leaves with a pretty turbulent end, is not at all competitive this year. Racing Point is, Vettel is probably in a more promising position next year. A new world title seems to be a bridge too far for the time being, although the regulation changes of 2022 could possibly cause an interesting shake-up of the field. Vettel certainly has the much needed experience in his pocket, with 53 victories and 120 podium places. The German will pair up with Canadian Lance Stroll next season at Aston Martin, who will be entering his third season with the team.
