Pure for the city
The third-generation Renault Twingo still stirs the tongues to this day. What are the points of attention if you aspire to such a cheerful French as a used car? We drive one from the used car showroom and check the weaknesses.
In the video we discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Renault Twingo as a used car. Three years ago, our colleagues at AutoBild disassembled the same model, the copy had 100,000 kilometers on the clock. What stood out?
- Especially when you open the doors, it becomes clear how thin the lemon yellow paint is on the hidden parts of the body. It is clearly visible and measurable with this car.
- The large folding-sliding roof is well resistant to wind and weather. In the convertible position, only the mechanism rattles a bit.
- Soil conservation could be better. Some spots have been skipped, resulting in the beginning of rust formation.
- The piece of metal near the gearbox magnets (photo below) comes from a sheet steel spring that belongs to the synchronization mechanism of the 1st and 2nd gear. That still worked properly.
- A favorable consequence of the predominantly urban deployment: the Twingo wears few tires. A single set of summer and winter tires was more than enough for the complete endurance test.
- The heat shields in the engine compartment look like they were bent by hand. They are fine; only a few cracks here and there.
A piece of broken metal was found on the Renault Twingo TCE 90 of AutoBild that stuck to the magnets of the gearbox.
An ugly rust spot under the tailgate opening seal.
Visible savings have been made especially on the attachment points on the outside and the hose clamps in the engine compartment of the Renault Twingo.
