Apple discontinues leather cases
With the iPhone 15, Apple not only says goodbye to the Lightning connection, we also no longer see the leather cover on the phone. According to rumors, the iPhone 14 is the last phone for which Apple produces the leather case. That means that after ten years there will be an end to the leather cases, which first appeared with the iPhone 5S in 2013.

It is not yet entirely clear why Apple is stopping production of leather cases, but that is probably related to the environment. After all, leather phone cases are not environmentally friendly and do not last as long as cases made of other materials. Instead of the leather case, the iPhone 15 gets a completely new case, which is made of a different material. That’s what it looks like!
iPhone 15 gets a new phone case
The new phone case for the iPhone 15 is reportedly made of two different types of material. These are woven together in the new case, making the case a lot firmer than if only one material is used. In the photos it looks like they will be cloth cases, which makes the cases much more environmentally friendly than the leather cases. It is also possible that the cases for the iPhone 15 are made of artificial leather.
The rumors about the new braided case are in line with previous stories about the charging cables of the iPhone 15. The phone will also receive a completely new cable, due to the introduction of the USB-C connection with the iPhone 15. The cable is made of sturdier braided material, with the same color as the iPhone. Earlier we saw this with the MacBook and the HomePod mini.
The leaked photos also seem to confirm that the iPhone 15 will appear in several new colors. The iPhone will probably come in a new blue shade this year, which can be seen on the cases.
