#SelfCare: The game where you lie in bed all day

#SelfCare is a unique game. Unlike the majority of games, it’s not about defeating bosses, completing a level or setting the fastest time, but about doing nothing at all. This way, #SelfCare turns your iPhone into an oasis of peace.

#SelfCare: the game in which you do nothing

The cross between an app and a game was created by the people behind Assassin’s Creed and takes place in a bedroom. The main character is in bed surrounded by objects such as a stack of books and a plant. The premise of the game is “what would happen if I lay in bed all day?”

By means of small, short mini games you try to tidy up the room, which looks messy at the start. In between, you do breathing exercises, water the plants, and other mindfulness activities.

This is completely different from what you normally do in games. Most games are ultimately about stress, for example, you have to get as many points as possible, and this app goes against that. #SelfCare was created to get iPhone users out of the routine of email, social media and WhatsApp and let them relax.

‘iPhone becomes oasis of peace’

Many people nowadays experience stress from their smartphone and #SelfCare wants to do something about that. Your phone can also be an oasis of peace, says developer Brie Code.

Code, who was involved in the first three Assassin’s Creed installments, says: ‘Whenever I get angry about something I read on the internet, I play #SelfCare. After playing I forgot what I’m angry about. This is the most important thing a game can do. ‘

#SelfCare can be played on iPad and iPhone and is free. You can, however, make in-app purchases such as purchasing extra activities.
