Series of precious classics found in overgrown garden

barn find

British Youtuber and TV presenter Jonny Smith is known for discovering remarkable classic cars. He recently came across a collection of classics in an overgrown garden in Cardiff, Wales. This includes some special classic Porsches.

Every now and then, a collection of classic cars is discovered covered in a thick layer of dust in an almost forgotten shed. In any case, the first ‘barn find’ of 2022 is already a fact, as we discovered thanks to our colleagues from the AD. However, it is not really a classic ‘barn find’, because the cars are simply completely at the mercy of the elements in a completely neglected backyard.

One of the cars found under the vegetation turns out to be a Porsche 912. The rare four-cylinder brother of the primal 911. We also see a rare Porsche 924 Turbo, a Lancia Delta 1.3, a Fiat 124 Spider, various Mazda MX-5s, BMWs and Mercedes-Benz models. Unfortunately, some cars were damaged, such as a BMW E30 318is, which suffered fire damage.

The Porsche 924 Turbo has to be largely excavated.

The cars have fallen into disrepair in this state after the owner was hit by a spate of deaths within his family. He also lost his wife after five years of marriage. Despite his inability to protect his collection, he talks enthusiastically about the cars. The good news is that they will be up for sale soon. Hopefully they will be bought by people who will store them indoors – whether or not after a restoration.
