The iPhone 15 Pro (Max) no longer has a mute button, but an action button. You can assign a function to it yourself. But how do you do that?
This is the action button on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max)
By default, the action button is set so that you can switch the ringtone on and off. When you use the action button for something else, you can turn off the sound via the control panel. You can also set a Focus to automatically silence your iPhone.
For example, you can use the action button on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) to activate the camera for a selfie. Or to quickly record a memo with the dictaphone. There are a total of nine standard functions that you can immediately choose from. But with Assignments the possibilities are endless.
This is how you set the action button
The action button is therefore ideal for functions that you often use. If you want to change the function, you can do so as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Action Button’;
- Select the desired function by swiping horizontally.
As soon as you select the desired function, it is immediately active. It is therefore very easy to temporarily change the function of the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) action button. If there are multiple options for the selected action, vertical arrows will appear below the action. If your choice is ‘camera’, you can indicate there, for example, which camera you want to use.
Add commands to the action button
It is also possible to use a Command to open an app or perform a series of tasks, such as turning on the lights in the living room or playing music. For the Assignments actions, tap the blue button below the action and select one of the options there.
The standard functions such as ‘Open app…’ and ‘Recognize music’ are already useful, but it is also possible to choose a command that you have created yourself. This makes it possible to extend the functionality of the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) action button quite far.
