Volvo C40 and XC40

Just a few months ago, the electric Volvo XC40 and C40 underwent a set of thorough adjustments that, among other things, gave the electric range two a considerably larger range. Now Volvo is simply increasing the electric range of its two SUVs again!

Volvo’s technicians can do a lot, but sitting still is apparently not one of them. In November 2022, Volvo made a major adjustment to the electric XC40 and C40, with the two going from front to rear-wheel drive in the base. The two SUVs got bigger batteries, could charge faster and became more efficient than ever. At the beginning of this year, the four-wheel drive Twin Motor versions were also thoroughly improved, which also resulted in more power, a greater electric range and more efficiency. Volvo is now improving and fine-tuning the electric XC40 and C40 even further and this also yields profit for the cars in almost every aspect.

Range electric Volvo XC40 and C40

To immediately have had the only bad news: the electric range of the Volvo C40 Single Motor decreases by 4 kilometers to a still very usable 478 kilometers. The Volvo C40 Single Motor Extended Range – which has an additional cost of only €2,000 – does go a long way on a full battery. The range of the Volvo C40 Single Motor Extended Range increases from 532 kilometers by 49 kilometers to no less than 581 kilometers. The C40 Twin Motor also benefits from a longer range. The range of this engine version increases by more than 40 kilometers to 548 kilometers.

The Volvo XC40 also gets a longer range. Unlike the electric C40, the XC40 Single Motor also has a larger range. It increases from 463 kilometers to 467 kilometers. Also with the electric XC40, it is the Single Motor Extended Range that gets considerably more kilometers. The range of the XC40 Single Motor Extended Range increases from 513 kilometers by 59 kilometers to a generous 572 kilometers. The XC40 Twin Motor gains 35 kilometers and from now on kicks it to a range of 535 kilometers.

More efficient

But there’s more. For example, the charging capacity of the electric XC40 Single Motor and C40 Single Motor will increase from 130 kW to 135 kW. The charging power of the Twin Motor versions also increases by 5 kW and is now 205 kW. Those who get warm feelings in the gut from sprint figures will also be treated to a treat. For example, all engine versions – with the exception of the C40 Single Motor – have the 100 km / h from standstill 0.1 count earlier on the clock.

The energy consumption per 100 kilometers also decreases. The C40 Single Motor Extended Range now consumes 16.3 kWh/100 km instead of 16.7 kWh/100 km. The C40 Twin Motor is also satisfied with 0.4 kWh less per 100 kilometers (17.4 kWh/100 km). The XC40 Single Motor is also slightly (0.2 kWh) more economical with its energy at 16.8 kWh/100 km. The energy consumption of the XC40 Single Motor Extended Range decreases by 0.8 kWh/100 km to 16.7 kWh/100 km. That of the Volvo XC40 Twin Motor is now 17.7 kWh/100 km (-0.2 kW).

The prices of the further finely ground electric Volvo XC40 and C40 remain unchanged.
