Skoda Enyaq iV RS takes record for longest drift on ice

Skoda has set a special record with the Skoda Enyaq iV RS. The electric SUV made the longest continuous drift on ice ever, according to Guinness World Records.

Electric car records typically have something to do with long-distance driving. On January 19, a Skoda Enyaq iV RS drove only about 7.35 km on the Swedish lake Stortjärnen, but that was still good for a world record. The Enyaq covered that distance completely in a drift. This makes it the longest continuous drift ever on ice, according to Guinness World Records. Skoda immediately takes two records with it, because it is also the longest continuous drift ever with an electric car.

British motoring journalist Richard Meaden sat behind the wheel of the Skoda Enyaq and kept the car in a drift for a whopping 15 minutes and 58 seconds. In that time he completed 39 laps on the ice rink on the frozen lake, at speeds between 31 and 49 km/h. The Enyaq was all stock except for the tires. Tires with 600 5 mm long studs were mounted at the front, while the rear wheels had 300 2 mm studs. According to Skoda, the 299 hp four-wheel drive top model of the Enyaq could be kept perfectly controlled in a drift with those tires. It resulted in nice images, as you can see in the video below.
