Skoda reports that March 18 is the date it will present the all-new Kushaq. This compact crossover, specially intended for the Indian market, has been shown on two design sketches.
Later this year, Skoda will bring a new compact crossover to the Indian market, which will eventually also be sold outside the Indian borders. The Dutch market is not one of them. The Kushaq is in fact the production version of the Vision In Concept that Skoda showed at last year’s Auto Expo in New Delhi. The exterior design of the crossover can already be seen on a set of design sketches. One thing becomes clear from this: the Kushaq will be very similar to the concept car that preceded it.
The Kushaq, whose name means something like ‘king’ in Sanskrit, will be placed on a MQB-A0 platform specially adapted for the Indian market. The car gets a rather aggressive looking muzzle for a compact crossover, complete with two-layered headlights and not only a strikingly angular grille, but also a tough looking front bumper. At the back, the Kushaq has similarities with the Kamiq and Scala. Especially the design of the rear lights shows great similarities. The Indian market can also use the Kushaq well. Skoda’s model range in India currently consists of the Rapid, Octavia and Superb.
Skoda Vision In Concept (2020) The Kushaq will be about 4.25 meters long and will have a wheelbase of 2.65 meters. 1.0 and 1.5 TSIs will be added to the engine list. The 1.5 will in any case also be available with a DSG7 automatic transmission if desired. As mentioned, the Kushaq will not come to the Netherlands, not even at a later stage.
