Skoda lets the new Octavia RS iV shine through

The brand new Skoda Octavia RS is coming to the Geneva Motor Show next week. To increase the tension, the Czechs already show some details.

Last year, the fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia came into existence, so an RS version could never take a long time. March 3 is the day, so coming Tuesday. They can’t wait at Skoda, so they already show some of the new most potent Octavia. Of course, the Skoda’s RS logo is displayed in various places on the subtly sportierly designed exterior and it is also clear in the interior that it is an RS. In a somewhat darker image we see half-leather sports seats with a diamond pattern in the backrest. Dark tones with red accents seem to be the theme in the interior of the Octavia RS.

One of the most striking images is of course that of the plug in the charging connection, above the brand new RS wheels (photo 6). The Octavia RS gets its power from a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time. Hence the addition ‘iV’. It is the same powertrain as that of the already unveiled Volkswagen Golf GTE. The 1.4 TSI and an 85 kW electric motor together account for 245 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The Octavia RS is therefore just as powerful as its most potent predecessor. Sporty driving will therefore be more than fine, but if you want to take it easy, ‘up to 55 kilometers of fully electric driving (WLTP)’ is possible. Of course, this also results in a lower average CO2 emission (around 30 g / km) and we naturally hope to see that reflected in the price. Next week we will hear and see more.
