Skoda also received a major blow in the first half of 2020. The brand has seen a significant decrease in its sales in the past six months, yet the Czech manufacturer has achieved a positive operating result.
The corona virus also threw a spanner in the works with Skoda. The brand saw sales fall to 436,700 cars in the first half of 2020, a whopping 31.3 percent less than the 620,900 copies the brand sold in the first six months of 2019. Turnover fell to € 7.55 billion, but the operating result did not fall into the red figures with € 288 million.
In Western Europe, sales decreased by 23.1 percent to 181,700 cars in the past six months compared to the first half of 2019. Good hits for the brand, but in China Skoda has had an even harder time. Sales there declined by nearly 39 percent to 77,400. Skoda sales have also decreased in the Netherlands. About 20 percent fewer Skodas were sold than in the first half of 2019. However, the market share simultaneously increased from 4.3 to 5.2 percent. According to Skoda, it owes that mainly to the Kodiaq.
