Skoda Superb V6 (2004) – Enthusiast Wanted

Much for little

Skoda Superb V6 (2004) – Enthusiast Wanted

An unusually young car for Enthusiasts Wanted, this 2004 Skoda Superb. Still, it deserves a podium, because it is the thickest Skoda you could buy at the time. In addition, the owner history, mileage and asking price are neat. Who is looking for a lot for less?

To indicate the place of the first-generation Skoda Superb in the large Volkswagen Group stable, we already did extensive research into the family ties of the top model from Skoda’s model range. Speaking of toppers; today we are dealing with the most expensive thing you could order from the Czechs in 2004 – a Superb with a V6 in Elegance version. Only after the facelift in 2006 (the car came on the market in 2001) Skoda introduced the Laurin & Klement trim level as the highest achievable, although it initially served as a replacement for the Elegance trim and not as a step above it.

The Elegance includes electrically adjustable seats, heated seats at the front and rear, climate control, leather upholstery and ‘wood inlay’. There is also a sliding/tilting roof on board, as well as xenon headlamps and the 17-inch alloy wheels that the Superb was on when it was allowed to be photographed for the press material that was distributed in 2001. In short: you will not find a more complete Superb of the first generation.

V6

In the 47-NR-HF, originally delivered in the Netherlands, you not only have the most complete equipment, but also the greatest power. A longitudinally placed 2.8-liter V6 coupled to a 5-speed fully automatic engine produces 193 hp and 270 Nm of torque. Nowadays, a little turbo four-cylinder does the same, but this Superb spoils you nicely with a six-headed character, good for a 0 to 100 of a modest 9.4 seconds according to the manufacturer’s specification. After all, the Skoda is not a lightweight and the front wheels are the only ones that are allowed to look for traction on behalf of the V6.

Skoda Superb V6 Enthusiast Wanted

17-inch was the largest size you could get under a Superb at the time.

Once up to speed, we can imagine that you are sitting like a prince. Moreover, it is relatively carefree, because its history and apparent state speak for a loyal and thrifty owner. Singular indeed: the Superb had a first owner from 2004 to 2006, but since that year it was with its second and last owner. He sold it six months ago, relatively shortly after the odometer passed 100,000.

Road trip ready

The Skoda has now been for sale at the same car company for more than four months and is approaching its MOT expiry date. Although the €4,999 that the company asks is a take-away price, the fairly long advertising period may lend itself as an excuse to enforce a new MOT. The selling party may be willing to get rid of that little extra.

Admittedly: the Superb will not be cheap to use, but for a fan of this model – looking past the boring color scheme – this is a special opportunity. At the same time, the car also seems extremely suitable for a big road trip for four tall friends who together have a little extra for the relatively high petrol costs. The interior is endlessly spacious, the trunk is large and a caravan weighing up to 1,600 kg is also allowed behind it. Who will take his chance?
