Skoda took quite a hit in 2020

Skoda had a pretty hard time in 2020. Although the brand managed to sell out more than one million cars, sales fell by 19.1 percent compared to 2019. Interestingly enough, Skoda received the biggest blow in China.

In China, where many car manufacturers recorded growth in the past year, Skoda sales fell by no less than 38.7 percent to 173,000 cars. This is the blow for Skoda by far the greatest on the Chinese market. Nevertheless, with this sales number, China is still in first place in the top 10 of sales markets for the brand. In Russia, Skoda showed a growth of 6.8 percent to 94,600 units sold. In the Netherlands, total Skoda sales fell by 13 percent to 16,654 cars. Overall, Skoda nevertheless remained above the million in 2020 with 1,004,800 cars sold.

Despite the increasing popularity of SUVs, the Octavia remains Skoda’s absolute top seller with 257,400 units sold. Places two and three are occupied by long-legged family members: the Karoq (137,200 cars) and the Kodiaq (131,600 cars). Newcomer Enyaq iV has already sold 600 copies in the past year, even though it only appeared on the scene at the end of the year. In the coming year, the Enyaq will probably go through an increase in the Skoda model ranking. A facelift for the Kodiaq is also on the program for 2021. There is also a brand new Fabia on the way. The Enyaq will be joined by the Enyaq Coupé in the future, but it is not known whether that car will make its debut this year.
