Skoda is working on a brand new sedan, a sober four-door whose brand has now released the name: Slavia.
In September, AutoWeek could already show you the first photos of a new sedan from Skoda, which was tested in a test suit in the Austrian Alps. That new sedan will be called Slavia, Skoda indicates.
Unfortunately, we have to disappoint anyone who gets warm from a four-door sedan that is a size smaller than the five-door Octavia. The Slavia is a car that Skoda develops especially for the Indian market. After the Kushaq, the Slavia will be the second model specially developed for the Indian market. Like the Kushaq, the Slavia, named after the bikes that Skoda founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement sold before plunging into cars, will be on the MQB-A0-IN platform. That is a variant of the MQB-A0 platform that is under the Fabia and Scala, adapted for the Indian market.
The Skoda Slavia will probably follow the Rapid in India. The Indian Rapid is actually a Volkswagen Vento, which is secretly just a previous generation Polo Sedan. The Indian Rapid was last refreshed in 2016 and that means that the model is on its last legs. The packed test car in these photos could just be its successor. Skoda will present the Slavia before the end of the year. In addition, the Slavia could just be a modified version of this Volkswagen Virtus, a sedan that is also unknown here. Incidentally, Skoda previously referred to a striking student project, a cut open Scala, as Slavia.
