Snapchat is rolling out dark mode in iOS: this is how you activate it in 3 steps

Snapchat has finally released a dark mode for the iOS app. This way you activate the function in three steps.

Snapchat is rolling out dark mode

Snapchat started testing dark mode for a small group of iPhone users last year. Now the social media app is rolling out dark mode to all iOS users. The feature is especially nice if you quickly suffer from the light from your iPhone screen. The dark mode looks a lot nicer.

You can choose from three different modes: always light, always dark or the same mode you have set for iOS. This is how you set up the feature:

  1. In Snapchat, go to your profile and tap the gear at the top right of the screen;

  2. Scroll down and tap ‘App Appearance’;

  3. Then choose your favorite mode.

The dark mode is now set immediately. Do you not see the option? Then your app may still need to be updated. You can check this in the App Store. Isn’t that the case? Then you still have to be patient. Because the feature is now being rolled out, it may take a while before you get the feature on your iPhone. iOS is the first to have Snapchat’s dark mode. Android users will probably have to wait a few more months for it.

More and more apps are getting a dark mode. Last year, Facebook got a dark mode and it was also WhatsApp’s turn. Gmail also received a dark mode in iOS and iPadOS last year.
