Less is more, the maker of ‘sodes must also have thought. The app does what it should do: play podcasts. The app does this in the simplest way we have encountered so far. We give you three reasons why it is worthwhile.
1. Listening without a subscription
‘sodes is by far the simplest podcasts app you can find in the App Store. It is therefore particularly suitable for people who listen to a single podcast episode every now and then. You can start listening right away, without having to subscribe to shows. You also do not need to create an account. The operation is also simple. There are only three buttons: rewind 15 seconds, play and fast forward 15 seconds.

2. Simple operation
In addition, the design of ‘sodes is very simple and straightforward: you are definitely not drowning in an abundance of options. For example, your home screen is divided into three categories: favorite podcasts, episodes you are currently listening to, and episodes you have yet to listen to.
The search screen shows the most popular podcasts of the moment. If you are looking for a specific episode, you can use the search box.
3. Choose your own theme
However minimalistic the app is, fortunately there is some possibility for personalization. You can choose from three different themes: light, dark and ‘campfire’.
With this last option, a kind of glow is displayed over your screen. This is especially useful when using the app at night: your eyes will thank you.
Is sodes too simple?
Avid listeners will not get their money’s worth with ‘sodes: the app is too simple for that. For example, you cannot download episodes, so you always have to stream.
Now ‘sodes streams episodes little by little, so that the entire episode is not downloaded right away. However, a little listener will still quickly get through his internet bundle this way. People who value more options, such as being able to subscribe to and download podcasts, are better off with apps like Overcast and Podcasts.
