‘Some Apple Watch users receive survey with hint to blood sugar sensor’

Apple recently circulated a survey among a number of Apple Watch users. The survey is about the use of the health features of Apple’s popular smartwatch. In the survey, the Apple Watch maker hints at blood sugar readings, a feature we hope to see in Apple’s upcoming smart watch.

Apple asks question about blood sugar measurements in survey

A group of Apple Watch users received a survey asking about health features, said 9To5Mac. Apple hopes to gain insight into the popularity of certain functions. Interestingly, the survey also asks whether users have apps to measure eating habits, medications and blood glucose levels – all features that the Apple Watch itself does not yet have.

The survey starts with questions about health features already built into WatchOS. Think of the pedometer, activity rings and the Workout app. The company wants to find out which features are the most popular. After the questions about built-in features, Apple starts talking about third-party apps. Here the company also hints at blood sugar measurements.

The wide range of health features of the Apple Watch is the main reason for many users to purchase one. Apple’s smart watch has now become not only the best-selling smartwatch and fitness tracker, it is the best-selling watch in general.

Surveys not new to Apple

This isn’t the first time Apple has sent out a survey. Not all functions mentioned in a survey will actually be available. However, there have been rumors for some time that the company is working on a blood sugar sensor for the Apple Watch Series 7. The demand for blood sugar measurements in the recent survey ties in nicely with this.

In 2020, Apple asked a number of iPhone users in a survey whether they actually took the charging block of their new iPhone out of the box. Enough people apparently said ‘no’, because a few months later the iPhone 12 was announced – without a charging block in the box. Apple also asked in a survey whether users were interested in unlocking their iPhone with their Apple Watch. This feature became a reality in iOS 14.5.

More about the Apple Watch Series 7

The Apple Watch Series 7 will be the successor to the Series 6. Apple will most likely announce the smart watch later this year. As every year, the focus is probably on health. The question is not so much whether the new Apple Watch will get health functions, but which (s). In the corridors it is mainly suggested that Apple would add a blood sugar app for the Apple Watch.

Furthermore, they would like to give the successor to the Apple Watch Series 6 a new look. Among others, Ming-Chi Kuo, who is known within the Apple community as an incredibly reliable source, predicts that the new watch will have a different look. It is not yet clear what the Apple Watch Series 7 will change, but in a leaked memo Kuo speaks of a “completely new form factor”.
