A while ago we tested the soundbar HT-G700 from Sony and wrote a review about it. Meanwhile, Sony has announced the new HT-S400 soundbar, a 2.1-channel soundbar for cinema sound in the living room.
Design Sony HT-S400 soundbar
The black Sony HT-S400 soundbar is designed with an OLED screen on the soundbar for more user comfort. On this screen you can read the status information of the soundbar. The HT-S400 soundbar is 900mm wide, 64mm high and 88mm wide and weighs just 2.4kg.
Specifications Sony HT-S400 soundbar
The Sony HT-S400 soundbar is equipped with S-Force Pro Front Surround technology. This technology should provide a powerful audio experience.
The front speakers feature a rectangular X-Balanced speaker unit that maximizes diaphragm. This means you have less problems with sound distortion and a clear display of dialogues. The X-Balanced speaker unit has a Seperated Notch Edge. It improves vertical amplitude symmetry for clear sound quality through a cut on the edge of the speaker unit. This offers support to keep the tension inside and outside the edge of the diaphragm under control, so that, for example, dialogues come into their own.
The sound or audio mode of the HT-S400 is easy to set via the remote control. In addition, the system provides quick access to Voice mode. There is also a Night mode, which is useful if you watch television late at night and people are sleeping.
subwoofer
The Sony HT-S400 soundbar comes with a wireless subwoofer with a 160 mm speaker unit, which provides a deeper and richer bass sound. The subwoofer itself measures 192 x 387 x 400 mm and weighs 7.3 kg.
With an eye for durability, Sony has integrated recycled plastic into the rear panel of the HT-S400 subwoofer, designed according to the Made to be remade philosophy.
Integrate BRAVIA
You can easily connect the Sony HT-S400 soundbar to a Sony BRAVIA television. You can send the audio wirelessly to your Sony soundbar from a BRAVIA TV that supports a wireless connection. With the wireless connection, you can also turn your soundbar and BRAVIA TV on and off at the same time using BRAVIA’s power button.
Thanks to the integrated user interface, the soundbar settings automatically appear in the Quick Settings menu of the BRAVIA TV. Settings and volume can be easily adjusted with the BRAVIA remote control.
Price and availability
The Sony HT-S400 will be available in the Benelux from April 2022 for €270.
