The facelifted SsangYong Rexton is now available and that means that the Musso will also be updated soon. The revamped Musso has surfaced in camouflage trim in stone-cold Lapland, where the pick-up is subjected to cold tests.
The SsangYong Musso is basically the pickup version of the Rexton. That SUV was facelifted in 2019 and got a new nose, but the car was also revised in many other areas. The Musso still has to make do with the design with which SsangYong’s pick-up was introduced to the world in 2018. The Musso also appears to be getting a facelift, but it seems that SsangYong is not transferring the front of the modified Rexton one-on-one to the Musso.
The new headlights of the Rexton and its revised grille are not yet seen on the Musso plowing through the snow in these photos. However, it is possible that the Koreans are currently only testing the new diesel engine in the Musso, after all, the Rexton was also available with a modified 2.2 diesel engine and a fresh eight-speed automatic transmission. The question then remains, however, why SsangYong bothered to mask the Musso.
Incidentally, the model in the photos is the Grand Musso, with a 31 centimeters longer cargo bed. The ‘short’ Musso currently has a payload of up to 850 kilos, the 5.4 meter long Grand Musso kicks it in its current form to a payload of 1,061 kilos.
Undoubtedly more later this year! In the past, SsangYong used the model name Musso for the predecessor of the Rexton. That car was even sold as Daewoo. You can read more about this here.
