You can exchange messages with WhatsApp. But how do you actually start a conversation?
WhatsApp conversation
In WhatsApp, the ‘Chats’ tab contains an overview of existing conversations. But it may be that someone else has always taken the initiative to start a conversation. How do you start yourself? It is also possible to start talking yourself.
Start WhatsApp Chat (iOS)
Start a conversation yourself with one of your contacts:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the pencil leaf icon at the top right.
- A contact list appears. Tap the contact you want to send a message to.
- A chat screen opens. Type a message.
- Tap the send button.
- Tap the left arrow in the top left to return to the overview of all conversations.
Start WhatsApp Chat (Android)
Start a conversation yourself with one of your contacts:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the green circle with the speech bubble at the bottom right.
- A contact list appears. Tap the contact you want to send a message to. Do you have a lot of contacts? Then you can also type the name of the person in the search bar at the top. This way you don’t have to scroll endlessly.
- A chat screen opens. Type a message.
- Tap the send button.
- Tap the arrow at the top left to return to the overview of all conversations.
