The eternal discussion

It is getting colder again and that means that it probably won’t be too long before temperatures dip below freezing and winter precipitation settles on the Netherlands. Soon you will again have the eternal discussion at the coffee machine: are winter tires useful? So it’s high time for the following statement: ‘I’ll just keep driving on summer tires this winter’.
Little is as important as good contact between your car and the road surface. For the majority of the year, summer tires available in all shapes and sizes are more than adequate, provided they still have sufficient profile and are not too old. Towards the end of the year, the well-known discussion about whether or not it is necessary to put winter tires on your car will start again.
It is quite possible that you regularly visit countries such as Germany or Switzerland, where it is mandatory to drive on winter tires in winter conditions, or maybe you have planned a winter sports holiday in which you actually visit the snowy areas. Furthermore, it is also very possible that you simply prefer to drive on winter rubber in the Netherlands, because there are plenty of reasons for that.
On the other side of the winter tire discussion are those who find winter tires unnecessary in the Netherlands. After all, how many days a year is it really cold here these days and how often does snow actually fall from the sky? After all, it has been known for a long time that winter tires only make sense in really winter conditions. Maybe you drive on all-season tires or you simply find it too much hassle to change tires twice within a few months. After all, the winter slippers have to be exchanged again for summer tires later on.
As you can see, we are very curious about your opinion! Time for a voting round in which we posit the following statement:
“I’ll just keep driving on summer tires this winter.”
Can you find yourself in that? Why yes, or why not?
You can leave explanations and arguments in the comments. And, as always, your opinion does not have to be someone else’s. We should all be on AutoWeek.nl because we have a thing for cars, so be kind to each other and try not to let yourself be drawn out too much.
