Stellantis largest car manufacturer in Europe in first quarter

In the first quarter of this year, Stellantis took the largest market share of all car manufacturers in Europe with passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The group also saw sales grow by 10.8 percent with all brands together.

With a market share of 23.6 percent, Stellantis was the largest car manufacturer in Europe in terms of sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the first three months of this year. Looking purely at passenger cars, only the Volkswagen Group still has to tolerate it. The new group, which was created from a merger of Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, sold a total of 854,151 cars (passenger cars and light vans) in January, February and March. That is 10.8 percent more than Stellantis’ brands sold here in that period last year, then divided between the two separate groups.

The best-selling car from Stellantis was the Peugeot 208, which was also the best-selling passenger car in all of Europe. However, Stellantis mainly makes the difference with the light commercial vehicles. It was previously announced that, including those cars in January and February, it also beat the Volkswagen Group in the battle for first place in terms of market share. Looking purely at passenger cars, Stellantis is close to Volkswagen. Figures from ACEA show that in Europe (EU, EFTA and UK) Stellantis had a market share of 21.7 percent in the past quarter and Volkswagen a share of 25 percent.
