A big downer for the organization of the IAA in Munich: the fresh and large Stellantis will not be present. That is painful, especially because Opel is also one of the absentees.
Car fairs were of course canceled for a while due to corona and according to many, they are in any case in doubt, but they will return in some form. Even before the corona pandemic it was clear that from now on the IAA would no longer take place in Frankfurt, but in Munich, South Germany.
The biennial event will continue in September according to normal programming, but according to Automotive News, without Stellantis. This means that Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Maserati and Opel will not be visible at the fair. The latter is particularly painful, because the IAA, as a German exchange, had naturally hoped to be able to at least bind the German brands.
With this, Opel also immediately drills a big scoop through the nose of the IAA organization, because the new Astra will be unveiled shortly before that exhibition. In addition to Opel, Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota and Kia, among others, also miss the IAA.
The IAA is scheduled for September 7-12.
