Stormy advance of EVs: this is the Top 15

Last November, the barrier of 150,000 fully electric cars was broken, according to the figures from Bovag and RDC. That is double compared to October 2019.

Earlier today we reported on the basis of ANP reports that there are almost 145,000 fully electric cars on Dutch license plates. That number was based on data from the ANWB, which is outdated, according to the more up-to-date statistics from Bovag and RDC. On December 1, 2020, 153,312 EVs were registered, which is double compared to October last year. Last month alone, 22.6 percent of new registrations were fully electric. Cumulatively up to December 1, 13.9 percent of newly registered passenger cars were EV, compared to less than 10 percent last year. Incidentally, we still have to wait and see to what extent the advance will continue when after the turn of the year the addition for EVs rises from 8 to 12 percent. And don’t forget that 150,000 cars are a lot when you have to wax them, but that on a total fleet of almost 9 million it is still a drop in the ocean.

Cumulatively this year, the Kia Niro is the most popular EV with 5,802 units, followed by newcomer Volkswagen ID3 with 4,882 units and 3 (nominally) the Tesla Model 3 with 4,431 registrations. Tesla leads the top 15 driving fleet with flying colors:
