Subaru will bring an electric SUV to Europe in the first half of this decade. The model shares its platform and most of its carriage with a Toyota sister model.
Toyota is preparing an electric model offensive that includes a series of electric SUVs and crossovers. The brand will bring an electric SUV to the European market next year that will be comparable in size to the RAV4. Subaru today confirms that European consumers can also welcome a Subaru electric SUV by the middle of this decade. According to the Japanese manufacturer, its first EV is already in the first half of this decade.
Subaru describes its car as a Forester-sized electric SUV, confirming our suspicions that it is a sister model to the Toyota already described. At the end of last year, Techzle was able to show a series of patent plates of new electric Toyotas. A mock-up of Subaru surfaced at the beginning of this year from one of those EVs in the pipeline. It therefore seems very strongly that the now announced EV is that SUV. The electric Subaru, like its Toyota sister model, promises to be a sharply cut SUV with a relatively short nose and flat headlights. The upcoming EVs are on a version of Toyota’s EV modular e-TNGA platform.
