The recently unveiled Subaru WRX has now also been unveiled as a Sportswagon. Where the normal WRX already resembles the Subaru Levorg more than ever, that certainly applies to this WRX Sportswagon.
Lovers of the old Subaru Impreza WRX and the later purely WRX called sporty bangers from Subaru, could enjoy the brand new WRX last month. It no longer shares its base with the Impreza, but with the larger Levorg. In addition, the WRX also resembles that model more than ever. The previous WRX already shared a lot with the Levorg, simply because they both had the same nose as the Impreza. The new WRX goes a bit further and resembles the Levorg only as a station wagon available halfway through, but with a sedan butt and a nicely beaten coach in various places.
Subaru WRX and WRX Sportswagon
Now it gets even more complicated, because Subaru now presents the WRX Sportswagon. Indeed, the station wagon version of the WRX. Because the regular WRX is broadly a Levorg with sedan butt, the WRX Sportswagon is almost 1 to 1 a Levorg, but with somewhat thicker decoration. In that respect, the WRX Sportwagon does not really provide any big surprises. Also technically not, since the same 275 hp and 350 Nm strong 2.4-liter boxer engine with turbo is in the nose as with the WRX sedan. It can also be linked to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission in the WRX Sportswagon.
The Subaru WRX Sportswagon will be available in various markets next spring. The Netherlands is probably not one of them, since the WRX sedan is not coming our way either.
