Subsidy pot for electric car almost half empty

This year you can again receive a subsidy on the purchase of a new or used electric car. A much larger subsidy budget will be available in 2022 than in 2021, so the pot is far from empty, although 44 percent of the total available €91.4 million has already been allocated.

The subsidy pot for the purchase of a new or used electric car was filled with €91.4 million. €40.33 million of this has now been allocated, a good 44 percent. This is evident from data from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

€71 million of the €91.4 million available this year is reserved as a contribution towards the purchase of a new electric car with a catalog value of up to €45,000. You can get a €3,350 SEPP subsidy on such a new electric car. A total of €32,910,400 SEPP subsidy has been applied for for a new EV, which means that a good 46 percent has been allocated. A subsidy has therefore been requested for 9,824 new EVs and a budget is still available for 11,370 new EVs.

You can also apply for an allowance for the purchase of a used electric car with an original catalog value of €45,000. It amounts to €2,000. Of the €20.4 million available this year for the purchase of a used electric car, €7.42 million has been allocated, so about 36 percent. This means that SEPP subsidy has been applied for for 3,710 used EVs and there is still a budget for 6,490 used electric cars.

Of course you cannot apply for a subsidy for every new or used electric car. Here you can read everything about the conditions and how to apply for a Subsidy for Electric Passenger Cars (SEPP) for a new or used electric passenger car.
