Up to about 700 kilometers of electric range
Stellantis invests €130 million in its production facility in Eisenach, Germany. Of course it doesn’t do that without reason. It is going to build the fully electric successor to the Opel Grandland.
The SUV that Opel presented as Grandland X in 2017 and that the facelift carried out on the model in 2021 is simply called Grandland, will be followed up in 2024 in a completely new model. Just like the current Opel Grandland, that new model will run off the line in Eisenach, Germany. Parent company Stellantis is now investing €130 million in that German production facility. That is because it needs to be converted. The successor to the Opel Grandland will be a completely different kind of car.

Will the successor to the Opel Grandland no longer be an SUV? Yes, but unlike the current model, the Grandland replacement will only be available with fully electric powertrains. That is actually not very surprising. The current Grandland is a sister model of cars such as the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 and it is now also known about the successors of those cars that they only come on the market with electric powertrains. Like the electric Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008, the car that will replace the Opel Grandland will be on the STLA Medium platform, a variant of the STLA platform family reserved for fully electric models.

About the electric e-3008, of which the successor to the Opel Grandland will become a sister model, Peugeot already indicated that the model will be available with three different powertrains, including a four-wheel drive version with two electric motors. The Peugeot e-3008 will have a range of up to 700 kilometers. We expect something similar for Opel’s new electric SUV. We don’t know yet what the model will be called. It will be presented in the second half of 2024. The Peugeot e-3008 will arrive at the end of this year. Opel says it will only sell fully electric models in Europe from 2028.
