Suzuki expands SV650 color palette

Where most competitors have already had to ditch the V-twin in the entry-level and mid-range segments for a parallel twin – because that saves a lot of costs in production – and then give that parallel twin a shifted pressure tap plus 270° ignition order to simulate that V-twin feeling, Suzuki remains faithful to the 90° V-twin. Because in technical terms this is actually the very best concept.

Thanks to its ideal balance, more power can be extracted from a 90° V-twin, but if that is not your top priority, the roles can also be reversed and a 90° V-twin will be more economical with the same performance. Whereof noted. Suzuki claims a consumption of 4.1 liters per 100 km, or 1 in 24.4 and that is really super economical for a 77 hp 645cc V-twin. And we know that this claim is on the cautious side, in the past we have already noted a consumption of 1 in 30 with the V-Strom 650, which has the same block.

Electronic gadgets are a thing of the past for the SV650, and to be honest, we think that might be its strongest point. No Bluetooth connectivity to share routes or riding information via an app, and no totally unnecessary things like traction control, wheelie control and adjustable riding modes, just a pure motorcycle. Rawdogging, but for motorcycling.

Now, in all fairness, we have to say that ‘no electronic gadgets’ isn’t entirely true. Suzuki has indeed equipped the SV650 with some electronic gadgets, but they are not ADAS (Advanced Driver Aid System), just a few conveniences: Suzuki Easy Start System, which makes starting easier, and Low RPM Assist, which ensures that the revs increase slightly when you release the clutch, to prevent the engine from stalling when pulling away.

For model year 2025, Suzuki has not changed any of the above at all, the only thing that has been done in Hamamatsu is to expand the color palette with three more new color schemes: Metallic Mat Black (YKV), Pearl Vigor Blue with Metallic Mat Black (CGJ) and Pearl Mat Shadow Green with Metallic Mat Black (C2L).
