Suzuki is investing nearly €32 billion

Anyone who walks into the Suzuki showroom will find several hybrid models, including a plug-in hybrid based on a Toyota. Suzuki does not yet have electric cars, but that will change in the coming years. Not only in Japan, but also in Europe.
Suzuki sheds light on what it will be up to in the coming years. Quite a lot, it turns out. Until 2030, Suzuki will present five brand new models with an electric powertrain in Europe. The Japanese expect a lot from that. By 2030, 80 percent of all Suzukis sold in Europe must have an electric powertrain. That percentage is now logically exactly 0 percent, since Suzuki does not yet have an EV in its range.
Among those five new electric models are SUVs and B-segmenters. Count on electric successors to the Vitara and the S-Cross, but perhaps also on larger electric models. The first electric Suzuki should be on the market in Europe in fiscal year 2024, which runs from April 1, 2023 to March 2024. It is therefore quite possible that Suzuki will already show something of this this year. With the eVX Concept, Suzuki recently looked ahead to a new electric SUV-like that is also coming to Europe.
In Japan and India, Suzuki will launch six electric cars up to and including 2030. One more than in Europe, but the composition of the EVs coming to Japan and India will probably also be different.
At the bottom of the line, Suzuki hopes to increase its turnover considerably. In fact, the brand wants to double its turnover between now and 2030. Suzuki will invest no less than €31.76 billion up to and including 2030 to realize its growth plans.
Suzuki and Toyota
Suzuki and Toyota maintain a close relationship, but it becomes even closer. Suzuki says it will expand its cooperation with Toyota, but will also remain a competitor. Toyota and Suzuki will work together more closely and want to jointly develop autonomous cars, battery technology and electrified models. Furthermore, the two brands want to expand together into promising growth markets.
Suzuki sells the Swace and the Across in Europe, far-Suzuki variants of the Corolla Touring Sports 1.8 Hybrid and the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, respectively. Outside Europe, Toyota sells the Suzuki Baleno in India as Glanza, in Africa as Starlet and here unknown Suzukis such as the Ertiga, Ciaz and Vitara Brezza are sold by Toyota as the Rumion, Belta and Urban Cruiser, respectively.
