Suzuki SC100 – Enthusiast Wanted

Suzuki SC100 – Enthusiast Wanted

You may recognize that you can develop a kind of crush for a car because it is actually a really crazy thing. That may also happen with this Suzuki SC100, which is looking for a new owner.

Suzuki has grown as a car manufacturer with small cars. That adventure started in Europe in the late 1970s with the SC100. An extremely striking little one that may not quite fit on your retina in terms of proportions. Although the SC100 had the necessary external similarities with other ‘Dutch’ Japanese of that time, it was a different story in terms of dimensions.

The story of the SC100 already started with the slightly older Suzuki Fronte Coupé on which it was based: a real Kei car, drawn by none other than Giorgetto Giugiaro. That Fronte Coupé was blown up a bit, the design was changed in detail and voilà, there was the SC100. At least that’s what the car was called here. In the homeland, among other things, it was called Cervo. Although the SC100 was larger than its predecessor, at 3.19 cm long, 1.40 m wide and 1.21 m high, it was still a small rascal.

Suzuki thought we might be interested in it here in Europe, so we got to know a new car brand here. The Cervo was renamed SC100 and the three-cylinder measuring just under 600 cc made way for a 45 hp 970 cc four-cylinder. It had to be a bit of fun, of course. After all, it is not necessary at all to stay below 600 cc for tax benefits, in Japan it is.

The special coupe, because that’s what it is officially, was given the opportunity to prove itself on the Dutch market from 1979. With relatively great success for a new brand, because partly thanks to its favorable consumption and attractive price, according to our data, about 3,400 went on Dutch registration. They disappeared in droves in the late 1980s and 1990s, but the remaining specimens eventually became more cherished.

So it is possible that this red copy from 1982 is still among us. It appears to be in a very acceptable condition. According to the provider, this is also because the originally silver-grey SC100 has been repainted. At least in a beautiful time-conforming color! He just needs a technical check and then he can go again. Are you taking your shot? The asking price is €7,750.
