Taraschi Berardo is a converted BMW i8

Apparently gold can be made with small-batch coupés for customers who find a Porsche or Lamborghini too ordinary. This Taraschi Berardo is an example of such an exclusive newcomer.

The Taraschi Berardo is a homage developed by the Italian company 1-Off to the Italian racing driver of the same name, who developed his own racing cars, among other things. Taraschi’s son, together with Squadra Corse Taraschi, a team that keeps Taraschi Berardo’s surviving racing cars running, is reviving the old name. This is the Taraschi Berardo, in fact a BMW i8 with an extravagant interior and exterior.

The remains of the BMW i8 can still be seen in the carriage of the Taraschi Berardo and the butterfly doors also survive the metamorphosis. Especially the front and back are completely new. All new sheet metal parts are made by hand from aluminum. The new carriage makes the 4.98 meter long Berardo a lot longer than the 4.69 meter long i8. The interior is just as striking. That can still be recognized as an i8 interior, although the whole is a cacophony of brown leather and wood. Almost every nook and cranny is finished with wood or times. In addition, the complete middentunnel is new. The whole looks more like a piece of furniture than the center tunnel of an i8. In any case, it looks special.

The powertrain of the Taraschi Berardo consists, as in the i8, of an electric motor coupled to a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. Where the BMW i8, however, kicks it to 374 hp, the Berardo is already 420 hp strong. The company says it is able to boost the power to 470 hp and 520 hp. Like the i8, the all-wheel drive newcomer accelerates in 3.9 seconds to a speed of 100 km / h and has a top speed of 280 km / h. The striking Italian will be produced in a limited edition and has a starting price of – don’t be alarmed – € 800,000 …
