Apps on your mobile phone come in handy in all kinds of cases. Especially if you go out for a day. You should definitely install these applications for iOS (Apple) and Android.
flash master
Accidents, crowds and bad weather can cause delays on Dutch roads. Before you leave, check Flitsmeister to find out what to expect. This app provides current information about traffic jams on Dutch roads. There is also a section that reports where the police hold speed traps. You can also report speed cameras yourself if you encounter them on the road. While driving, put the phone away of course. But with a sound signal you can be warned if you are approaching a speed camera or mobile control team. The information is continuously updated while using the app.
Google Maps
Most phones have a map program as standard, but Google Maps is still the best according to many. It is an excellent program to search for a location, restaurant, shop or other destination. You can use it to navigate to your destination and compare different routes. The navigation for pedestrians is also excellent, you see yourself moving as a dot on the map and you can immediately see if you are walking correctly. There is also a function for route planning by public transport, although it does not work optimally everywhere.
NS Travel Planner Xtra
Train passengers cannot do without the NS app. This not only provides information about the fastest connection from departure station to final destination, but also provides an overview of current blockages and planned work. In the app you can look up alternative travel routes.
Parkopedia
Are you always busy finding a cheap or free parking space during a day trip? The Parkopedia app makes this a bit easier. The app is especially useful in larger cities, in smaller places the information is not always available or up to date. But still worth a try, especially since the app doesn’t cost any money.
Storm alarm
Going for a walk? The weather can be very unpredictable. The Buienalarm app wants to know your location and uses that information to notify you if rain is coming. The app is suitable for the Netherlands, parts of Germany and Belgium. In addition to an alarm, there is also a weather map with radar images of the rain that moves over our country. The information is accurate to 5 minutes and is kept up to date via the internet connection. There are more apps with a weather radar, but this one is very useful with the special alarm.
ANWB Cycling
The ANWB is not only for motorists, but also for cyclists. The association has an app with the concise name ANWB Cycling. This free app offers 49 cycling routes with information about sights, catering and bicycle service points and route guidance while cycling. Routes can be planned via nodes.
