Tesla CEO Elon Musk under scrutiny again

The US stock market watchdog SEC takes a closer look at Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This time, the regulator has the CEO in its sights for statements about Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has previously investigated Tesla CEO Elon Musk for statements. This time it is not about Musk’s statements about whether or not Tesla should be delisted, but about Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system (FSD). The more extensive version of Auto Pilot. Automotive News reports this based on insiders.

The SEC would label Musk’s previous claims about what Tesla’s FSD system is capable of as false or misleading. The American security watchdog NHTSA also recently launched an investigation into Musk’s statements about Tesla’s FSD, and the SEC has already scrutinized Tesla itself for promises about Autopilot. Now SEC is also focusing specifically on statements by Elon Musk.

Tesla was also previously under fire for Autopilot, as the name of that driver assistance system would suggest that it makes fully autonomous driving possible. There is similar criticism of the name of its more extensive variant, Full Self-Driving.
