Model 3 and Model Y cheaper
Tesla seems to be masters in implementing significant price reductions for its models. In September, the prices of the Tesla Model S and Model X dropped by thousands of euros and now the Model 3 and Model Y are becoming less expensive again. Only in the United States for the time being.
At the beginning of September, Tesla cut tens of thousands of euros from the prices of the Tesla Model S and Model X in the Netherlands. The Model S became less expensive by up to €22,500, while the Model X benefited from a similar price reduction of up to €22,500. At the same time, Tesla lowered the prices of these two in the United States. Now Tesla is once again introducing a price reduction in its home country on the brand’s two significantly more popular models: the Model 3 and the unpopular Model Y.
The prices of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are not dropping as dramatically as those of the Model S and Model X recently. This is not very surprising, as Tesla has already lowered the prices of these two several times. The rear-wheel drive Tesla Model 3 will be a few percent ($1,250) cheaper and is now in the order books, equivalent to €36,940. The price of the Model 3 Long Range also drops by $1,250. The Performance version will be $2,250 less expensive. The prices of the Long Range and Performance variants of the Tesla Model Y will become $2,200 less expensive in the United States. The price reduction of the Model 3 and Model Y follows shortly after the announcement of Tesla’s production and delivery figures for the third quarter of this year. It showed that both the number of cars built and the number of units delivered decreased compared to the first two quarters of this year.
For the time being, the prices of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y in the Netherlands are still unchanged. This means that the Tesla Model 3 with rear-wheel drive costs at least €42,990 (Long Range: €50,990) and that the Model Y with rear-wheel drive has a starting price of €46,990. The Model Y Long Range and Performance cost €53,990 and €59,990 respectively.
