1 Megawatt!

Tesla has finally delivered the first units of its electric Semi in the United States. That electric truck is interesting, but it is of course not a passenger car. Yet there is also very interesting Tesla news in that area. Just like the Tesla Semi, the Tesla Cybertruck must be able to fast charge up to 1 megawatt. Yes: 1,000 kW!
The Tesla Semi is a true electric monster. Tesla’s electric trailer was presented five years ago and now the first units have finally been delivered to PepsiCo, among others, during the Tesla Semi Delivery Event – three years later than originally planned. The electric monster must be able to travel no less than 800 kilometers with a fully loaded trailer with a combined weight of more than 37,000 kilos. The colossus must also be able to drag those kilos to a speed of 97 km/h (60 mph) in 20 seconds. Certainly not bad for an electric truck, but that is by no means the biggest news that Tesla has to offer for the car industry.

The Cybertruck is more angular than almost any other car ever made.
Without going into detail, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced during the event that the Tesla Cybertruck, like the Semi, can fast charge up to 1 megawatt. In other words: the maximum charging capacity of the Tesla Cybertruck must be 1,000 kW. The ‘megawatt’ charging option will be added to the Supercharger network in the United States next year. This may be related to the arrival of Tesla’s new V4 Superchargers, although it is likely that Tesla will reserve a special spot at those Supercharger stations for the Cybertrucks that can fast charge up to 1,000 kW. It is not yet known how big the battery of the Cybertruck will be. But it seems certain that an empty battery pack can be charged again in a proverbial poo and a fart. We do not yet have information regarding the Dutch market.
