Tesla is recalling nearly ten thousand cars in the United States. This is because of a potential production error with the Model X, which can be dangerous. This is evident from a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday.
The production error is in the frame at the front and rear window. It could have been applied without first applying a primer, making it easier to peel off. Also, parts may not have been properly tightened around those same spots. It concerns Tesla’s Model X of model year 2016. In the Netherlands, the delivery of the Model X only started at the end of that year. As yet nothing is known about a possible recall for Dutch Models X. Although Tesla says it has no indications that this has caused accidents, it could be dangerous for others if the parts of the car fall off. Therefore, the defect is repaired where necessary. More than nine thousand cars are checked.
A potential problem has also been identified with the Model Y. In some cases, bolts in wishbones would not have been properly tightened. Tesla is also going to look at that, but in this case it only concerns a few hundred cars that were delivered only in the US. On three cars, a wishbone has become loose, revealing this problem, the NHTSA reports.
