Tesla most popular brand in the Netherlands in March

In March this year, more than 37,000 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands. That was no less than 50 percent more than in the same month last year. Tesla registered the most new passenger cars in our country last month.

In March, 37,452 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands. That was no less than 51.1 percent more than the 24,781 new passenger cars registered in March last year. This is evident from figures from Bovag, RAI Association and RDC. The annual counter for the first three months of 2023 stands at 98,059 new passenger cars. That is 25.2 percent more than in the first quarter of 2022. The enormous percentage increase is of course related to the fact that importers are rapidly clearing the large arrears that have built up over the last 2 years.

With no less than 3,160 registrations, Tesla was the car brand that registered the most new cars in the Netherlands in March. Tesla’s market share was a not-so-sickening 8.4 percent in March. In second place we find Volkswagen with almost 3,000 registrations and a market share of almost 8 percent. In February, Volkswagen was in third place. In that position we now find Kia that has dropped two positions compared to February. However, with a total of almost 2,700 registrations and a market share of more than 7 percent, the brand has little reason to complain. Volvo and Peugeot – not in the top 5 in February – are in fourth and fifth place respectively.

2 Volkswagen 2,972 7.9 percent
