Tesla Roadster on even longer track

It has been quiet around the new Tesla Roadster for a long time, but that is about to change today. In an interview, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the car will be delayed, because all other now known newcomers have priority over the open “lol-Tesla”.

Musk made his comments in a podcast interview with comedian Joe Rogan, quoted by none other than Reuters. “The Tesla Roadster is a kind of dessert,” Musk tells Rogan. “The meat, potatoes and vegetables come first”.

The high-profile Tesla foreman also immediately knows what that main dish consists of in car terms. The first priority is to increase production of the Model Y compact SUV, which has been delivered to US customers since March. The construction of the European ‘Gigafactory’ near Berlin is also high on the wish list.

Then there is also the issue “Cyber truck”. That bizarre pickup would also take precedence over the Roadster, which is not surprising given the enormous popularity of the concept in Tesla’s home country.

In short, there is not yet a concrete date for the production of the Roadster. The day is not even in sight. Secretly that is a pity, because now we are not going to know what it feels like to go from 0 to 100 in 2.1 seconds. Tesla calls the Roadster the fastest car in the world and promises a top speed of more than 400 km / h. You can make a reservation, but it costs a generous amount of money.

Targa

The Roadster, which is actually a purebred targa, was unveiled in November 2017. In 2018 it still seemed that the first copies would appear on Dutch roads in 2020, but it is clear that even Americans have to wait a long time.

Incidentally, there is another Tesla product that is waiting for a market introduction: the Semi. The quirky truck was unveiled a few hours after the Roadster in 2017 and is reportedly in use by Tesla itself in the U.S., but not yet available to other parties.
