Tested: Facer is a smart app full of cool Apple Watch watch faces

As of watchOS 7, you can share custom watch faces with others. The Facer app cleverly responds to this: so you have a huge list of creative watch faces in your pocket.

Facer is a shop full of watch faces

The Facer app has been around for a while, but it must have cheered when watchOS 7 was announced. As of this update (available now), you can grab watch faces from the internet and put them right on your watch, which is exactly what this app is made for.

With Facer you put your own ‘shop for watch faces’ on your iPhone, as it were. The app is brimming with user creations, cleverly combining Apple’s watch faces with handy complications and matching colors. Most watch faces are free, some you have to pay for.

Especially now that watchOS 7 has added watch faces in which you as a user can determine the design very specifically, Facer offers a solution. For example, I don’t want to come up with my own color combination for the new ‘Stripes watch face’, but I would like to try one that is introduced to me in Facer.

Here’s how to set up a Facer watch face on your Watch:

  1. Open the Facer app on your iPhone;
  2. Find a watch face you like and tap it;
  3. Tap the blue Apple Watch icon;
  4. The Watch app will open and the watch face will be added’;
  5. Set the watch face on your Apple Watch.

Are you creative yourself? Then you can also put a homemade watch face in Facer from the Watch app on your iPhone and make other users happy with it. Simply tap the share icon in the Watch app, choose ‘Facer’ and follow the steps on the screen.

That makes Facer a nice app for anyone who regularly chooses a new watch face for their Apple Watch and does not want to put it together manually. Whether the watch faces in the app are good enough to pay for them is something everyone will have to decide for themselves. As far as we are concerned, the free range is also extensive enough to give the app a try.
