In the price list for 35 years

For about 35 years, the Toyota Celica was an affordable sports car in the Netherlands. From 1971 to 2006 there was always a Celica in the price list. How many are left?
The first Toyota Celica was available as early as 1971 and with that model the Japanese strongly marketed the Celica name. It was an alternative to affordable coupes from volume brands from Europe, such as models such as the Ford Capri and the Opel Manta.
There are still 94 copies of generation 1 in the Netherlands
The second generation Celica came in 1978 and of that generation you had the Coupé and the Liftback, just like the Opel Manta, where in addition to the two-door you had a CC, with a roofline extended to the rear and a practical large tailgate.
There are still 24 of generation 2 in the Netherlands
Generation three arrives in 1982, and once again there are two body styles of the Celica. It is noticeable that the car is becoming increasingly angular, which is also striking: the very short life cycle of the model. In 1985, Toyota thought it was time for the next generation.
There are 46 of generation 3 in the Netherlands
A Celica that you probably know better, and that you will sometimes encounter given the numbers that are still available, is the fourth generation. The one with folding headlights is really a child of the 80s. It appears in the showrooms in 1985, and it gets a sporty brother with the MR2. As usual, the Liftback has the biggest engines, with things getting really serious from 1987 with the Turbo AWD. The integrally driven four-wheel drive has 185 hp.
There are still 210 of generation 4 in the Netherlands
With generation five (1989-1995), Toyota continues to build on the styling of its predecessor, although we again see much rounder shapes. Carlos Sainz’s fantastic performances in the WRC make this perhaps the most legendary Celica. There will even be a special Carlos Sainz version of the 2.0 Turbo AWD that now produces 204 hp. A convertible of this Celica will also be released.
There are still 404 of generation 5 in the Netherlands
The sixth generation is very different in shape. The four-eyed face means the end of the folding headlights. As with the fifth, there is no longer a coupe with a longer tail, but fortunately the liftback coupe shape is retained.
There are still 461 of generation 6 in the Netherlands
The last generation of the Toyota Celica came in 1999 and there was a choice of two 1.8 engines, with the most powerful T-Sport, a new sports label, producing up to 192 hp. A compressor is available for this engine through Toyota tuner TTE. The last Celica will remain in production until 2006.
There are still 1,101 of generation 7 in the Netherlands
There are a total of 2,342 Celicas left in the country. Nowadays you could see the Toyota GR86 as a descendant of the Celica, which in turn succeeded the GT86.
