The Dutch drive an average of 11,000 kilometers per year

Dutch motorized vehicles – not counting motorcycles and mopeds, but including passenger cars, delivery vans, trucks and buses – drove a total of 134 billion kilometers last year. That is 5 percent more than in 2020, but still 11 percent less than in 2019. This is reported by CBS. Undoubtedly, the corona measures played a major role in this. Passenger cars and buses in particular drove fewer kilometers in 2021 than in 2019. Trucks drove about the same number of kilometers, delivery vans more. Between 2019 and 2021, the number of passenger cars in our country increased by 2 percent, but the average annual mileage decreased by 16 percent to 11,000 kilometers in that period.

Passenger cars together drove 104.5 billion kilometers in last year. Vans accounted for 18.8 billion kilometers, trucks for 9.8 billion and buses for half a billion. In 2019, all passenger cars together accounted for 121.2 billion kilometers driven. Delivery vans drove 18.4 billion kilometers less than in 2021. In 2020, all vehicles covered fewer kilometers. In the Netherlands, passenger cars collectively traveled up to 99.70 billion kilometers and delivery vans to 17.9 billion. All trucks together did not exceed 9.5 billion kilometers driven.
