Mercedes-Benz well represented

We regularly present you with relatively affordable used cars, but we now make an exception. These are the most expensive used cars that you will currently find in the AutoWeek used car range.
Grab the scratch calendar or your New Year’s lock, because there is a good chance that the cars below are just a bit outside your budget. The AutoWeek second-hand offer includes a few cars that cost more than €1 million and the most expensive even exceeds €2 million! We don’t take them all, because we can’t really class this special Aston Martin V12 Speedster with year 2022 and 145 kilometers driven as an occasion pure sang to see. Furthermore, the price of this Mercedes-Benz SL from 1986 does not seem right. There are no photos yet and the dealer’s website says ‘price on request’. Moreover, more than a million would be more than too much for an SL of that generation.
Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 Pininfarina – €999,999
A warning before you scroll any further: if you have nothing to do with Mercedes-Benz, you better not look at this list. The brand is represented with no less than three models. The ‘cheapest’ is not a Mercedes-Benz as the brand itself thought it would be. This is the very special Pininfarina drawn (and converted) 300 SEL 6.3 Pininfarina Coupé. Only one was made in 1970, based on a regular four-door SEL, and it has been in the Netherlands since childhood. He camped for decades with one owner who left him after his death. His heirs then sold the car and now the former buyer also wants to distance himself from it. A unique opportunity to get your hands on a very special piece of automotive history. New, the car already cost 400,000 guilders, so in 2022 a million does not seem very crazy.
Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R Speedlegend – €1,250,000
This is again a Mercedes as the manufacturer has not released it, but of a completely different caliber than the previous one. This is the Mercedes-AMG GT R Speedlegend, an open AMG GT R modified by the Dutch company Bussink with the help of the German HWA. It has been stripped of its windshield and roof has been given a real ‘halo’. In the spirit of the aforementioned Aston Martin V12 Speedster and the McLaren Elva, so to speak. Furthermore, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Stirling Moss. A special thing and only one of five that have ever been transformed like this. Less than 2,500 km have been driven by the first owner, but well, this is not really a mileage eater.
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing – €1,495,000
There is a good chance that this Mercedes-Benz is more to the taste of most people than the first two. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is an undeniable icon, not only within the Mercedes-Benz brand, but in the automotive world as a whole. With the 300 SL, Mercedes-Benz not only created a particularly potent two-seater for its time, it also looked very good. For years you actually no longer have to hope to find another one that costs less than €1 million and this copy also well exceeds the million mark. More than three years ago, this 300 SL received a Dutch license plate and it seems that since then the classic has been kept purely as an investment object. Maybe a new owner with a huge ditch of money just wants to take it on the road? As far as we are concerned, the SL (and the street scene) would deserve that.
Porsche 918 Spyder – €1,590,000
So, those were the Mercedes. The second most expensive used car at the moment is also made in Germany. It is a real Porsche 918 Spyder in a nice original color. Despite its relatively short existence, the 918 Spyder is already one of the most iconic models Porsche has ever released. Both the design and the – especially for that time – special hybrid powertrain make it special. With the barely 900 hp hypercar you can control almost everyone on public roads, but you have to come from a good background to tame it. The 918 Spyder has quite a name when it comes to cunning handling when the going gets a little faster. If you also had to pay over €1.5 million for it, almost double the new price here in the Netherlands, it becomes even more exciting.
Ferrari F40 – €2,299,500
Ferrari has a name when it comes to the most expensive cars ever. We currently do not find a 250 GTO in the used car range, otherwise there would have been an extra zero behind the price. This Ferrari F40 is much more ‘affordable’ in that respect, although in this case that is a very relative term. The predecessor of the F50, Enzo and LaFerrari is still one of the most sought-after Ferraris ever and a true icon of the 1980s. This example rolled out of the factory in 1989 and has since had number plates from various different countries on it. Furthermore, the seats have already been addressed and some things have been restored to the car here and there. According to the provider, everything is neatly documented and the car was provided with an approval stamp by Ferrari itself in 2008. Would there now be Dutch license plates or will the F40 be safely stored after purchase? We fear the latter.
