The Grain of Salt: What else is Apple planning in 2022?

Last week was all about Far Out. During the event we were introduced to the iPhone 14 series, Apple Watch line-up and the AirPods Pro 2. So no time for rumors, but hard facts. Or not quite?

In The Grain of Salt we usually list the most important rumors of the past week. In this special edition, we dig a little deeper and take a look at what else Apple has in store for the rest of the year.

Apple goes wild with the iPad

After the September event, Apple is expected to grab attention again within a month. In October, the company will reportedly announce a few new iPad models. The biggest hint is the postponement of iPadOS 16: the operating system of the tablets.

Apple is expected to give the standard model iPad a completely new look this year. The American company provides it with the same model as the Air, mini and Pro models have. Flat edges with Apple Pencil 2 support and Touch ID in a new place, that is.

In addition to the entry-level model, Apple may also tackle the iPad Pro. It is expected that the company will get to work with the M2 chip, MagSafe and a mini-LED screen.

New Mac Products

In addition to the iPad models, later this year is also the time to announce new Mac products. At least, those are the expectations.

The American company is reportedly coming with a new MacBook Pro. These are new versions of last year’s 14-inch and 16-inch models. Of course with the new M2 chips. Whether it concerns the M2 Pro and M2 Max is still the question.

The arrival of the Mac Pro is also expected, but with an M1 chip. That’s not the case for the Mac mini. This model must be equipped with the next generation Apple Silicon.

No official confirmation, so take the news with a grain of salt (hence the name). Although there is a good chance that Apple will share the above products with the world in October. Would be something, huh?
