We kick off 2021 with a showdown between two arch-rivals, the Ford Capri and Opel Manta.
In the mid-80s they were already in the autumn of their career, but that does not make the 2.3 V6 Ghia and 2.0 GSi versions of these ‘sports cars for the people’ any less attractive. From a completely different decade, namely the 1940s, are the Chrysler Windsor, Ford Super Deluxe V8 and Buick Super Eight that motivated ambitious representatives criss-crossing the US at the time to sell their stuff. A tough life for man and machine, it turns out. This applies to an even more extreme extent for the Renault 20 Turbo with which the French Marreau brothers took part in Paris-Dakar in 1981, the rally that was still in its infancy at the time. Almost 40 years later we get to know this iconic rally car again. Also in this issue: Klokje Rond with a Fiat 600 Multipla from 1964, the restoration of a BMW 1502 by two technical brothers, the love for Mercedes-Benz (and the Heckflosse in particular), an analysis of the rise and fall of the British car industry, a test drive with a Mercedes E 500 Combi (!) And a report about stunt drivers who, with their traveling circuses, performed the most idiotic antics with their cars.
