Peugeot 208 and Tesla Model Y in the lead

The Peugeot 208 is not only the most popular passenger car in the Netherlands in June. The compact Peugeot can also call itself the most popular car in Europe. Tesla’s Model Y was Europe’s most popular electric passenger car last month.
Jato Dynamics has inventoried the sales figures of 27 European countries. In fact, it concerns the sales figures of the 27 Member States of the European Union, minus Bulgaria, Finland and Malta, but including Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. What seems? The Peugeot 208 was the best-selling new passenger car in June. This keeps the small Peugeot ahead of the ever popular Dacia Sandero in Europe, albeit narrowly.
Most popular cars in Europe (June 2022)
In June, 24,488 new Peugeot 208s were registered in Europe. Slightly more than the Dacia Sandero, which finishes in second place with 24,299 units. Opel’s 208-brother Corsa was good for a third place in the European sales statistics with 19,679 copies. Places four and five are successively for the Fiat 500 (19,500 units) and the Dacia Duster (19,039 units).
The T-Roc was the most popular Volkswagen in June. The T-Roc is in sixth place and, with 18,679 registered units, it was ahead of the Golf (17,575, seventh place). The Polo, which is much more popular in the Netherlands, is only in position 28 at European level. The Renault Captur finishes in eighth place, Toyota’s Yaris in tenth place. The gap between them is filled by the Tesla Model Y, making the more spacious brother of the Model 3 by far the most popular electric car in Europe in June.

Most popular electric cars in Europe (June 2022)
The Tesla Model Y can therefore call itself the most popular electric car in Europe. The Model Y is closely followed by the Fiat 500e, of which about 7,300 units were registered in June. In total, 37 percent of all Fiat 500s sold in Europe turn out to be the electric 500e sold alongside the mild-hybrid model. The top 3 is closed by Tesla Model 3.
The Peugeot e-208 is in fourth place with 5,626 copies registered in June. So 23 percent of the 208s sold in Europe in June were an electric e-208. The electric models of the Volkswagen Group are quite well represented in the Top 10. For example, we find the Skoda Enyaq iV in fifth place, the Volkswagen ID4 in sixth place and the ID3 in eighth place. The not exactly young Renault Zoe also manages to claim a place in the Top 10.

Most popular plug-ins in Europe (June 2022)
The time when the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was the most popular plug-in in our part of the world is many years behind us. In June, the Ford Kuga was Europe’s most popular plug-in hybrid. Just under 4,000 copies were registered. The large presence of BMW in the Top 10 is striking, we come across no fewer than four plug-ins of the brand, the first of which is in place 5. That is the BMW 3-series. Also striking is the Jeep Compass, which has managed to usurp seventh place in the Top 10.
